PHIL 274 - World Philosophy and Religion Travel 2 credit(s) Travel course to Nepal (or alternate location) in which students will engage with the contemporary legacies of philosophy and religion. Cultural immersion is the focus. Course will include homestays, basic language acquisition, and guest lectures and site visits relevant to living practices of philosophy and religion and their complex histories. When the destination is Nepal, contemporary philosophies of historical relevance that will engage may include Vedic astrology, ayurvedic medicine, and Buddhist cosmology. Contemporary religious practices that we will engage may include visits to the Dakshinkali shrine of the fierce Hindu goddess Kali, and overnight stays at the Tibetan Buddhist monastery of Namobuddha. Prerequisite(s): PHIL 273 or PHIL 373 , and Instructor Consent
