Business Administration, BA

Introduction

A major in business administration prepares students to enter a wide range of careers in business and the public sector or graduate programs. The degree develops broadly educated individuals who are flexible, skilled at solving problems, aware of diverse viewpoints, and responsive to rapidly changing environments. Students majoring in Business Administration plan their core and elective courses in consultation with their faculty advisors to develop the most robust possible background in their areas of interest, and to achieve a well-rounded liberal arts education. 

Major Requirements: 63.5 Credits


Each major in Business Administration must complete the core requirements: 4 credits in economics, 1.5 credits of professional development, 42 credits of business core, including the senior capstone, and 16 credits of specialization electives. Each student works with an academic advisor in the School of Business to design a customized selection of elective courses that best fit the student’s interest. Students must select electives to achieve a specific area of specialization, for example, in accounting, finance, international business, management, marketing, and sports marketing.

All business, accounting, and economics courses require a minimum 2.0 grade point average; only grades of C- or above (or “Pass”) may be used to satisfy School requirements. The senior capstone, BA 490, must be completed in residence at Pacific. 

Students who declare a major in Business Administration cannot double major in Accountancy.

Areas of Specialization


To fulfill this requirement, students must:

  • Complete coursework that satisfies at least one specific area of specialization.
  • Use only one shared elective course when satisfying more than one specialization.
  • Choose either a Marketing or a Sports Marketing specialization; both cannot be selected.

Accounting Specialization: 16 Credits


Finance Specialization: 16 Credits


International Business Specialization: 16 Credits


Management Specialization: 16 Credits


Marketing Specialization: 16 Credits


Sports Marketing Specialization: 16 Credits


Senior Capstone


Students majoring in Business Administration are required to complete the BA 490   - Senior Seminar as their capstone. It will consist of a team-based experiential project. Concurrent enrollment with BA 405W  -Business Strategy is required.
