Admission
Many of the admissions prerequisites for the joint PharmD/MS degree program are common to the PharmD degree program requirements. Applicants for the PharmD/MS program must achieve a minimum cumulative, science and last 45 semester credit GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent. Prerequisite coursework includes a minimum of 62 semester credits of prerequisite courses at a regionally-accredited college or university in the United States. The PharmD/MS program will require a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States for consideration and matriculation in the program. Applicants with equivalent degree credentials from foreign institutions will also be considered.
New applicants to the PharmD/MS program will utilize the PharmCAS application system currently utilized by the PharmD program. In order to be considered for admission, PharmD/MS candidates also must submit the following application materials directly to the program co-directors through PharmCAS by the deadline (currently January) in order to be considered for enrollment in the subsequent fall semester. Complete applications (to be considered for admission) will include the following:
- Resume/curriculum vita that includes prior experience in research or clinical areas, awards, and scholarships
- One page statement of interest, which conveys the student’s research interests, plans for graduate study, and professional aspirations. Applicants must indicate how their scholarly interests fit with those of specific faculty members in the School of Pharmacy. The statement of interest should also articulate the career goals of the applicant.
- $25 application fee
Degree Requirements
Students must be enrolled in the PharmD program and must meet all prerequisite course requirements that were in effect at the time of initial enrollment. The MS is earned while studying for the PharmD and is not designed as a stand-alone program. All requirements must be completed within six (6) years of matriculation.
