Kinesiology, Minor

Introduction
The Kinesiology minor caters to those who want to know more about the science of human movement. This program provides a general background of Kinesiology and Anatomy & Physiology, followed by a choice of courses that fit student needs and interests (e.g., Biomechanics, Physiology of Exercise, Perceptual Motor Learning, Psychosocial Factors in Kinesiology).

One of the Following: 4 Credits
Electives: 8 Credits
- 8 additional KINES credits (at least 4 must be upper-division, level 300+), which may include any courses not taken above. It is strongly recommended that students declare a minor advisor for consultation of elective coursework.
Program Learning Outcomes
The Kinesiology minor is a subset of the major which has the following learning outcomes:
Students who complete the Kinesiology major will:

Correctly apply fundamental human movement principles, from both natural and social science perspectives, to a variety of contexts and populations;

Demonstrate an applied understanding of the form and function of the human body;

Critically evaluate human movement research in order to design and implement activities to confirm and/or generate disciplinary knowledge;

Use qualitative and quantitative reasoning and evidence, synthesizing information from a variety of origins to methodically and systematically solve problems and develop interventions in the human movement domain;

Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with lay and professional audiences;

Demonstrate appropriate levels of transferable independence and judgment necessary that will enhance success in future employment or schooling.
