Introduction
The Applied Theatre program extends the skills, tools, and values of the theatre arts into civic engagement, community-building, activism, and wellness. An educated Applied Theatre practitioner has a strong foundation in the liberal arts, and also recognizes and employs the power of theatre to serve communities. Minoring in Applied Theatre enables students to acquire marketable skills for jobs in education, social services, and applied arts companies. Degree requirements include a foundation in tradition theatre practice, history, and literature, along with focused education and training in Applied Theatre. Please note that a major or minor in Applied Theatre cannot be combined with a major or minor in Theatre.

Practice: 2 Credits
Complete 2 credits of Practice from the following:
Electives: 8 Credits
Complete eight additional credits, including from additional practicum courses, in Theatre and/or Applied Theatre, or related courses as approved by advisor.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, which includes theatrical production, community workshops, and academic study:
- Students will demonstrate proficiency in practical theatre skills in one or more areas including performance, design, directing, application of technology, writing, and/or devising.
- Students will demonstrate effective collaboration skills, including leadership, time management, problem-solving, effective communication, constructive critique.
- Students will display an understanding of artistic practice, including conceptualization, development of skills, constructive critique, revision, and public dissemination.
- Students will be able to articulate the usefulness of artistic practice in the service of groups and individuals, and will be able to identify appropriate research and approaches in order to serve various populations.
