Theatre, Minor


Introduction

Students minoring in Theatre may focus on the elements of production, performance, and theatre studies that interest them most. This streamlined, flexible program pairs well with other performing arts as well as Education and many fields in the Social Sciences.

Minor Requirements: 22 Credits


Electives: 8 Credits


Complete 8 elective credits in THEA and/or APTH: 

These credits can come from additional Practicum courses.

Program Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this program, which includes theatrical production, coursework, and community engagement:

  • Students will demonstrate practical skills in theatre production from among the following: design (scenic, lighting, costume, sound and/or make-up), acting, stage management, theatre technology, playwriting, devising, and directing.
  • Students will demonstrate effective collaboration skills, including leadership, time management, problem-solving, and effective communication.
  • Students will display an understanding of artistic practice, including conceptualization, development of skills, constructive critique, revision, and public dissemination.
  • Students will discuss their artistic practice and choices with reference to the standards of the profession, and will be able to articulate ethical and cultural questions regarding contemporary performance.
