Post-Graduate Residency Education
Opportunities in post-graduate residency programs are designed to provide optometric physicians with advanced practice competencies and expanded opportunities towards a career in optometric education, research, and/or specialty practice.
Pacific University College of Optometry grants Certificates of Completion for Optometry Residency Programs in Cornea & Contact Lenses, Ocular Disease, Pediatric Optometry, Primary Care Optometry, and Vision Rehabilitation. Areas of emphases also include Refractive and Ocular Surgery, Low Vision Rehabilitation, Geriatric Optometry, Vision Therapy and Vision Rehabilitation, and Neuro Optometry.

Admission: Post-Graduate Residency Education
All interested candidates are required to apply through the Optometry Residency Match (ORMatch). The application deadline is January 31, or as indicated by the program. The majority of programs are 12 months, beginning in early July.
Most optometry residency applicants are required to submit:
- A completed ORMatch application for the specific residency programs of interest.
- Current Curriculum Vitae.
- Examination scores from the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.
- Three letters of recommendation from optometry faculty members or mentors.
- Evidence of eligibility for state licensure may vary by state.
Other supporting documents are useful, such as copies of publications, thesis or research papers. Site-specific requirements of eligibility to apply may vary between residency programs and can be found on the ORMatch website, https://natmatch.com/ormatch.
