SOC 251 - Social Justice and Social Change

Explores the meaning of social justice and strategies for enacting social change. As a learning community, we explore the intersections between ourselves, our identities, and society. This highlights how identities are formed within the context of systems of power and how they can be used to challenge systems of power. We critically examine the dominant ideologies and structures that enable or constrain identities, community relations, and social structure. Additionally, we will explore strategies for engaging in social change efforts at the individual, institutional, and systemic level.

Prerequisite(s): 4 credits of Social Sciences (ECON, HIST, POLS, PH, PSY, SOC, ANTH, CJLS, SOCWK OR GSS)
