ENV 352 - Gender and the Environment 4 credit(s) Multi-disciplinary course that concentrates on the key debates and theoretical approaches involved in understanding how identities (e.g. gender, race/ethnicity, class, migration, etc.) form and inform our experiences of the environment, and how these experiences are reflected in practices and institutions. Topics will include environmental justice, international development, rurality, western positivism and indigenous knowledges, and environmental identities in press and film. The readings and other materials used in the class are global (north and south, and post-colonial perspectives). Students will apply concepts through discussion, reflection exercises, and an independent research paper. Offered: Alternate years.
Prerequisite(s): ENV 121 or ENV 200 or Junior standing or above (60 or more completed credits).
