MUS 284W - Teaching Music 4 credit(s) This course is designed to serve as the first music education course in the music education curriculum, as well as the survey of concrete applications to all who would like to learn how to incorporate music in their curriculum (preschool and classroom teachers). The course will provide an overview of the theorethical, philosophical, historical, social, and psychological foundations of teaching music. Its practical component will examine developmentally appropriate music teaching approaches from early childhood to adolescence along with the practicalities of motivating students, managing the classroom, and assessing learning outcomes. Core Requirement(s): Writing in the Discipline.
