DPT 694 - Critically Appraised Topics 1 credit(s) Builds on topics of research, statistics, and evidence-based practice previously introduced. Concepts of research design, biostatistics methods, principles of diagnostic accuracy, reliability and validity of outcome measures, confidence intervals, and measures of treatment effect are reviewed. Students work in pairs with a faculty advisor to develop a clinical question relating to diagnosis or treatment and answer that question via critical appraisal of three research articles. Each student pair produces a paper consisting of three individual article appraisals, an introduction to the topic, discussion and synthesis of outcomes of the individual article appraisals, and an overall clinical bottom line. Additionally, each student pair gives an oral presentation of their project to classmates and faculty. Course Offering: Spring, annually
