DPT 670 - Psych Aspects of Illness/Disability 2 credit(s) Designed to increase knowledge of the emotional, behavioral, and social effects of chronic illness and disability. Promotes interpersonal relationships between the physical therapist and the patient. Topics include exploration around clinical experiences and practice as it relates to: self-reflection and self-efficacy practices; socioeconomic, health disparities, and access issues; trauma informed care and secondary trauma self-care; and chronic pain, addictive behavior, depression, suicidal ideation, and anxiety. Class format consists of lecture, case studies, group work, weekly reflections and individual assignments. Course Offering: Spring, annually
