SOCWK 635 - Integrative Social Work With Refugees

Examines social work policy and clinical practice with refugees and other forcibly displaced persons across stages of persecution and displacement through culturally-informed and trauma-informed lenses. The course addresses international laws, social policies, psychosocial programming, and legal issues impacting this population and includes analysis of historical and contemporary responses to refugees. Collective global response strategies as well as individual, family, group, and community practice strategies will be discussed during the course. Students will gain knowledge and skills in macro and micro levels of social work practice and will participate in clinical practice sessions.
