Pharmaceutical Sciences, MS

Admission


Applicants for the MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences program must achieve a minimum cumulative of 2.75 or higher and/or pre-requisite or last 45 credit GPA of 3.0 or higher. Prerequisite coursework includes a minimum of 62 semester credits of prerequisite courses at a regionally-accredited college or university in the United States. The MS program requires a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States for consideration and matriculation in the program. Applicants with equivalent degree credentials from foreign institutions will also be considered.

In order to be considered for admission, MS candidates also must submit the following application materials directly to the Graduate Admissions Office in order to be considered for enrollment Complete applications (to be considered for admission) will include the following:

  • Resume/curriculum vita that includes prior experience in research or clinical areas, awards, and scholarships
  • One page statement of interest, which conveys the student’s research interests, plans for graduate study, and professional aspirations. Applicants must indicate how their scholarly interests fit with those of specific faculty members in the School of Pharmacy. The statement of interest should also articulate the career goals of the applicant.

It is also worth noting that the MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences program is offered as part of joint degree with the Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD).  Many of the admissions prerequisites for the joint PharmD/MS degree program are common to the PharmD degree program requirements. Applicants for the PharmD/MS joint degree program must meet all of the minimum prerequisite qualifications of the PharmD program and utilize the PharmCAS application system currently utilized by the PharmD program.

Degree Requirements


Students must must meet all prerequisite course requirements that were in effect at the time of initial enrollment.   All requirements must be completed within three (3) years of matriculation for the MS only program and within six (6) years of matriculation of the PharmD for the PharmD/MS joint degree option.

Students must earn a minimum of 46 credits with a grade of “P”. These credits must include, in addition to any required prerequisites, the following:
