Minor Requirements: 20 credits
The general minor in psychology is a total of 20 credits, consisting of required and elective courses that must be completed with a minimum grade of C. Required Courses: 8 Credits
Electives: 12 Credits
Students are able to select from any of the courses within psychology, with the exception of those designated as advanced topics (PSY 380 – PSY 385) or capstone (PSY 411, PSY 480 – PSY 485, PSY 499). Up to 4 credits of the minor may be selected from the list of approved courses outside psychology (see options below). A minimum of 4 credits from electives must come from upper division courses if students have taken SOC 301; otherwise, a minimum of 8 credits of electives must come from upper division courses. - Demonstrate fundamental knowledge and comprehension of the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, historical trends, and empirical findings of psychology
- Cultivate an awareness of evidence-based interventions and practices that enhance socially responsible action at the institutional and individual level
- Apply psychology-specific content and skills, effective self-reflection as well as project-management and teamwork skills for career preparation
