Introduction
A minor in Sports Communication prepares students for a variety of careers in industries related to sports and athletic competition; from journalism and play-by-play broadcasting, to marketing and sports information. Sports Communications minors will develop an interdisciplinary skill set in contemporary communication practices that will enable them to research, analyze, design, and deliver strategic messaging in a variety of formats for a diverse audience.

Minor Requirements: 24 Credits
All of the Following: 14 Credits
Electives: 10 Credits
Four credits must be upper-division. Four credits must be from MEDA courses.
Program Learning Outcomes
By completing a minor in sports communication, students will be able to:
- Create effective messages in a variety of formats that are appropriate to specific audiences.
- Describe the unique characteristics of the field of sports and how they affect the communication process.
- Create work that reflects an understanding of the legal and ethical implications of communication in sports-related industries.
- Communicate effectively via written, oral, visual or other means appropriate to the intended audience.
