Social Innovation and Nonprofit Leadership, Minor

Introduction

The Minor in Social Innovation and Nonprofit Leadership will prepare undergraduate students to start and lead organizations (public, for-profit, or non-profit) in a way that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. Students will learn how to be innovators who make positive contributions to community with the principles and practices of entrepreneurship, leadership, and management to steward their ideas successfully into operation. This minor is designed for students interested in professional careers dedicated to social justice, change and service in the public, nonprofit, and for-profit sector.

Minor Requirements: 22 credits


Electives: 6 credits


Students must take elective credit in more than one category and more than one prefix.

Program Learning Outcomes

1. Prepare students to start and lead organizations (public, for-profit, or non-profit) in a way that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable.

2. Prepare students to be innovators who make positive contributions to community, whether from public, for-profit, or non-profit organizations.

3. Provide students with the principles and practices of organizational management to steward their ideas successfully into operation.

4. Create opportunities for students to apply concepts, execute ideas, practice leadership and learn through experiences related to their majors and/or other interests.
