Introduction
Learn Mandarin Chinese, the most widely spoken language in the world, and immerse yourself in Chinese culture. The Chinese program pairs the classroom immersion experience with cultural experiences on campus. Students engage with Chinese language speakers using state-of-the-art technology in the Center for Languages and International Collaboration. Students are encouraged (but not required) to study abroad for one semester in China or to participate in short-term travel courses to China.
Note: Students who wish to minor in Chinese and enter the program at the 300-level must complete a minimum of 16 credits from upper-division offerings. A maximum of 8 credits are allowed from Study Abroad coursework.
