Introduction

Musical performance is at the center of preparation for a career in music.  Good instrumentalists are in constant demand in professional settings including live performance, studio recording and also in the orchestra pit. Successful performers combine performance with private studio teaching to create a wide variety of opportunities to utlize their skills. Instrumental performers are offered opportunities to work as solo performers and also in collaboration with others in small and large ensemble settings. Instrumental performance majors are also offered teaching opportunities to younger students as part of the Band Project and String Project to help refine their pedagogical skills under the supervision of master teachers.
