Introduction
English literature minors engage a wide range of texts from varied cultures, genres, historical periods, and perspectives. Pacific’s literature courses are small and intensive in order to build the skills of critical-thinking, analytical writing, and rhetorical analysis.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of a minor in English Literature, students are able to:
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of primary literary texts and a familiarity with their cultural, formal, and literary contexts and backgrounds.
- Identify the role of context in the production, reception, and transmission of literary works (including historical periods, geographic or national spaces, and cultural differences).
- Demonstrate a familiarity with major theoretical schools and discourses and an ability to apply them to a variety of literary or aesthetic works.
- Support literary analysis and research with peer-reviewed academic resources using proper documentation and citation formats according to industry standards.
