POLS 386 - Race & American Political Thought 4 credit(s) The course will have two parts. It will begin with a legal, and political history of race and its centrality to the development of American politics from the framing of the U.S. Constitution to the inauguration of the modern two-party system after the Second Reconstruction. The course will then explore the role of race in contemporary American politics by looking at the writings on contemporary race topics from prominent conservative and liberal thinkers.
