Delivers an overview of data, its use, information governance, laws and regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality, and a focus on the information system acquisition process. Emphasis on the importance of strategic planning and project management of information technology systems in healthcare organizations. Topics include HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), privacy and security, informatics standards, and electronic health records.
