ARTHI 276 - Art & Architecture of Asia 4 credit(s) This course is a selective survey of the architecture and visual arts of Asia, focusing primarily upon the artistic traditions of India, China, and Japan from prehistory to the turn of the twentieth century. Major artworks, monuments, and themes will be examined and interpreted using various analytical and contextual perspectives (such as formal, functional, iconographic, sociological, cultural, historical, political, and religious) in order to construct an understanding of their significance in an Asian cultural context.
