ARTHI 270 - Western Art I: Paleolithic – Gothic 4 credit(s) This course surveys the history of Western art from pre-history to the Gothic era, focusing particularly on the social, political and religious contexts in which this work was created. Through an examination of major monuments, artists and movements, students will gain a greater understanding of the general development of art in the Western world, as well as a familiarity with the basic vocabulary and methods of art analysis.
