SOCWK 325 - Counseling Theories and Intervention 4 credit(s) This class is an introduction to counseling theories and guides students through the application of those theories into micro level practice within a variety of social work and counseling settings. Instructional methods include readings, discussion, lecture, and experiential learning. Students will have an opportunity to learn and practice counseling skills under a variety of theoretical frameworks. In addition, this course encourages critical self-reflection, demonstrating cultural humility by applying self-awareness and self-regulation to manage the influence of bias, power, privilege, and values while working with clients. Prerequisite(s): SOCWK 320 or PSY 281 with a minimum C- grade, and SOCWK 300 or PSY 211 with a minimum C- grade.
