SCI 261 - Science & History of Information: Prep 2 credit(s) We are living in the Information Age-a time in which information is a driving force in human experience. Everything from human languages to computer data to DNA to scientific models of the universe are based on the encoding and transmission of information. This course explores the historical development of the modern scientific concept of information and the emphasis is on encouraging students to understand and appreciate the role of information in science and society. The topics will be introduced in the context of the UK history at the time. This course is required in order to enroll in Science & History of Info in UK: Travel, but it can also be taken as a standalone 2-credit course. Prerequisite(s): Sophomore Standing (30 or more completed credits)
