CJLS 101 - Introduction to Law & Society

4 credit(s)
Did you know that the law influences almost every aspect of our daily lives? In this course, students will examine the importance, influence and impact of law in society. We will look at how society creates the law and how the law, in turn, shapes society. The focus will be less on the substance of law (legal doctrine and judicial opinions) than on the process of law - how legal rules both reflect and shape basic social values and their relation to social, political, and economic conflicts within society.
Core Requirement(s): International and Diverse Perspectives; Social Sciences (2010-2017 catalogs).
