ECON 103 - Economics of Social Issues 4 credit(s) Students in Economics of Social Issues will examine a wide range of micro- and macroeconomic concepts by first encountering social problems described in the news media and then by learning and applying basic economic analytical frameworks to evaluate potential policy solutions. The topics covered will include poverty, income and wealth inequality, discrimination, trade, inflation, taxes, government spending and borrowing, unemployment, pollution, and the behavior of individuals and firms in a variety of market settings.
