OPT 562 - Behavioral Optometric Science 4 credit(s) Covers basic concepts of visual skills and perception including variable behavioral performance over time and among patients. Introduction to concepts in behavioral vision care, hierarchies and interactions between visual skills and perceptions, adaptive processes including neuroplasticity, bioengineering, and prevention. Introduction to psychophysics relevant to optometric evaluation. Refractive conditions as they influence visual function, and orientation to myopia etiologies and management strategies. Overview and epidemiology of common vision dysfunctions and optometric intervention within behavioral vision care including lenses, prisms, and visual neuro-rehabilitation. Application of behavioral vision care principles to enhance vision for competitive advantage.
