Support Services
Office of Accessibility and Accommodation (OAA) Services
The Office of Accessibility and Accommodation Services arranges for specialized support services or modifications to the learning and on campus housing environment for any Pacific University student with a documented disability. Disabilities may be physical, mental health or learning related and may be permanent or temporary.
Campus Public Safety (CPS)
CPS provides safety and security services for the Pacific University community 24 hours/day. Staff are certified private security professionals and can be reached 24/7 for safety concerns.

Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS)
CLASS offers peer tutoring to all Pacific University students in person at the Forest Grove and Hillsboro libraries and online for select subjects. CLASS aims to improve student success by providing a welcoming environment where students can work toward their academic goals with peer support. Peer tutors help students develop effective learning and study strategies and provide students with guidance in understanding concepts and solving problems. Schedule an appointment online.
The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (OEDI)
The OEDI is working on multiple fronts in particular to continue to support the university’s long-time tradition for as a nurturing and supportive learning environment, preparing diverse students for success in a global community. The primary role of the OEDI is to lead and manage an institution-wide effort to support and further develop a diverse community of faculty, students, and staff through policy development and programs that foster equity and inclusion in the broadest sense possible. This includes providing strategic, operational, and organizational leadership that grows capacity for intercultural competence, nurturing of diversity populations, and inclusive leadership across campus. The OEDI will be guided by the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education.
Hawai’i Outreach and Programming (HOP)
HOP serves as a central resource for current students, prospective students, students’ families, alumni, faculty, and staff regarding issues related to students from Hawai’i.
Housing Office
The Housing Office manages student housing and dining operations on campus, including the housing assignment process.
The Office of International Programs
The Office of International Programs provides services to international students and scholars and to students participating in study-abroad programs.
Outdoor Pursuits
Outdoor Pursuits gives students the tools and knowledge to get out and explore the natural world. Students can participate in the Voyage program for new students, in trips throughout the year, and in outdoor leadership training opportunities.
Residence Life
Residence Life facilitates learning, engagement, and support for students living in campus housing.
Student Activities
Student Activities facilitates intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth through student co-curriculars. Student Activities advises the Undergraduate Student Senate and undergraduate student organizations. Students may take part in planning activities, learn about student clubs and organizations, start new student groups, or get assistance in planning co-curricular events for the university community. Includes Greek Life.
Student Conduct
The Office of Student Conduct strives to create a safe community for all at Pacific University by promoting integrity, civic responsibility, and learning. The Office is committed to providing ethical and educational processes that foster high standards of behavior as well as student development and success, while treating each student with dignity and respect.
Student Counseling Center (SCC)
The Student Counseling Center services are offered by mental health professionals via teletherapy and in-person in our offices on the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses. Services include confidential mental health consultations, crisis services, group therapy, short-term individual therapy, referral services for longer-term or specialized services in the community, and systemic outreach to enrolled students who pay the Student Support Fee. Please note that if you no show for an appointment without canceling your student account will be charged a no-show fee of $15.00. Student Health Center
Our mission is to provide accessible, quality, cost-effective healthcare and disease prevention to promote your academic success. Pacific University’s Student Health Center staff is a dedicated team of professionals who provide confidential medical services and wellness promotion. The Student Health Center provides services to all students enrolled in one or more credits, regardless of what insurance coverage you have chosen (excluding Medicare). Title IX Coordinator
Title IX is a federal law that expressly prohibits all forms of sex discrimination, which include sexual harassment, sexual assault and sexual violence. All Pacific University students, employees, affiliates and visitors are covered by Title IX requirements and protections. Centers and Institutes
The Berglund Center is an innovation center and incubator where innovative thinking, entrepreneurship and multidisciplinary team work comes together to launch new products, services and ideas within a vibrant learning community.
Child Learning & Development Center supports educational environments that will facilitate experiential learning and research within the College of Education for the purpose of improving early childhood education.
The Tom McCall Center for Civic Engagement (MCCE) works with Pacific University students, faculty, and staff, together with community organizations, to address significant social, political, or environmental issues.
The Center for Gender Equity (CGE) mission is to promote equity around gender and sexuality, for Pacific students and the surrounding communities, through support services, education, and activism. The CGE is open to everyone on Pacific University’s campuses and in the community, regardless of gender.
The Center for Languages & International Collaboration (CLIC) promotes the development of global-ready graduates who can communicate effectively across difference by supporting the teaching and learning of world languages and cultures, and courses promoting international and diverse perspectives.
The Center for Peace & Spirituality (CPAS) provides students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful study, reflection and action based on the recognition that inter- and intra-personal peace are inherently connected and that concerns for personal spirituality are intimately related to concerns for one’s social, historical, cultural and natural environment.
The Center for a Sustainable Society provides students an opportunity to experience the university’s commitment to sustainability and work within a collaborative framework to cultivate an engaged community dedicated to ethical, transdisciplinary solutions that advance the wellbeing of people and places, locally and across the world, now and in the future.
The Multicultural Student Multicultural Center (SMC) establishes a location of equitability and inclusion for all students who call Pacific University home. The SMC is an integral part of Pacific University that represents students of all identities, cultures and abilities. In a continuously evolving world, we strive to promote cultural sensitivity through education and advocacy within our university and student operations. The SMC is the culmination of advocacy by students, both current and alumni, to establish a location of equitability and inclusion for all students who call Pacific University home.
The English Language Institute offers students an opportunity to improve their academic English language skills before they take university classes in the United States. Most ELI students who successfully complete the ELI program transfer to one of Pacific University’s undergraduate or graduate programs.
The Vision Performance Institute (VPI) is a leading research organization in the vision sciences. VPI is dedicated to research in product development and support and clinical care in vision performance.
Other Resources
The Pacific University Bookstore, managed by Barnes and Noble College Booksellers and conveniently located in the University Center, carries all required texts and supplies for course work, as well as apparel, gifts and sundries.
In 1996, Pacific University joined with five other Oregon colleges and universities to form the Oregon Campus Compact, a division of national Campus Compact: Higher Education in Service to the Nation. This is an organization of college and University presidents committed to helping students develop the values and skills of citizenship through participation in public and community service. Faculty members, staff, and students may take advantage of Campus Contact services and resources including technical assistance for developing service learning courses and programs, mini-grants, a quarterly newsletter, resource library, and workshops on topics of interest in community service-learning.
The University Libraries are a vital center of research, learning, and discovery for the Pacific University community. With exceptional new facilities on both the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses, the Library offers strong collections and services to support both undergraduate and graduate scholarship, and our facilities serve as friendly gathering places as well. From our rich historical Archives, to government documents, to recreational reading, music and videos, to efficient, easy access to digital resources across our curricula, the Library is well-equipped to enrich our students learning experiences while at Pacific.
A committed group of Library faculty and staff work closely with students to assist them in finding, evaluating and using today’s wealth of information, as well as in effectively using new information technologies. Information literacy classes offer undergraduate students the opportunity to develop skills to prepare for successful lifelong engagement with a dynamic and ever-changing information environment. Library faculty work closely with the professional and graduate programs in Hillsboro, Eugene, Forest Grove and in distance courses to integrate information literacy competencies into the curriculum and to support students’ advanced research.
Access to online databases, nearly 30,000 full text electronic journals and 10,000 ebooks is available around the clock via the Library’s web portal. In addition to its core collections of materials (both print and electronic), the Library’s resource-sharing partnerships allow our students to quickly obtain materials from across the region – and from around the world. To encourage both independent research and collaborative learning, the Library offers comfortable study spaces on both campuses, and a 24-hour study center and computer lab in the Forest Grove facility. An information commons is located in both the Hillsboro and Forest Grove libraries, offering computer access and research assistance to all students.
Our new University digital repository, CommonKnowledge, is the home of the collected scholarship and creative works of Pacific University faculty, staff and students. Outstanding undergraduate student scholarship, as well as the theses, dissertations and research projects of our graduate and professional students, is showcased in CommonKnowledge. These largely open access collections, along with the open access journals hosted by the Library in CommonKnowledge, support the idea that shared information is essential to the “progress of knowledge” in our global community.
Through its collections, services, staff, and innovative use of technology, the Library encourages exploration and discovery and strengthens the University’s commitment to teaching, learning and scholarship.
Old College Hall was completed in 1850 and is the oldest permanent structure on the Pacific University campus. It is among the oldest collegiate buildings in the western United States and continues to serve as a gathering place for members of the University and surrounding communities. This compact two-story structure with its signature octagonal belfry, or cupola, is symbolic of pioneer efforts during territorial days. In 1974, Old College Hall assumed its rightful place on the National Register of Historic Places.
As part of Pacific’s centennial celebration in 1949, the second-floor rooms of Old College Hall were converted into museum galleries. The Pacific University Museum exhibits artifacts relating to the history of the institution. Many interesting objects donated by alumni and friends of the University are displayed here. Personal items from founder Tabitha Brown and President Sidney Harper Marsh are among the collections on exhibit. Treasures from various foreign cultures are also featured in the museum, reflecting Pacific’s missionary heritage. Old College Hall is open for tours on the first Wednesday of the month. Visits also can be arranged by appointment through the Office of the President.
